Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar, during the pilgrimage to Mecca. The countdown shows the time left until midnight on that day.
Also called the Feast of the Sacrifice, it falls about seventy days after Eid al-Fitr. The table gives the calculated dates of the coming years.
| Hijri year | Computed date (Umm al-Qura) |
|---|---|
| 1448 AH | Sunday, May 16, 2027 |
| 1449 AH | Friday, May 5, 2028 |
| 1450 AH | Tuesday, April 24, 2029 |
These dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. The official date depends on the sighting of the crescent moon and may differ by a day from one country to another: choose your country above, the countdown follows the official date as soon as it is confirmed.
Frequently asked questions
Why can the date change by a day?
The Islamic calendar is lunar: each month begins with the sighting of the new crescent. Many countries wait for this sighting, announced the evening before; the calculated date is therefore an estimate until then.
Does the countdown follow my country?
Yes: choose your country and the countdown uses the date confirmed for it as soon as it is known. Until then it shows the calculated date, marked as estimated. It reaches zero at midnight, at the time of your device.
Can I create a countdown for another date?
Yes: the countdown page lets you choose any date and time, with a title and a link to share.
